DIMND | INTERVIEW + TRACK REVIEW

For Marc, the mind behind DIMND, stepping into a solo project wasn’t just a creative decision—it was an exploration of total artistic freedom. After years of playing in bands, he found himself drawn back to the music that shaped him, blending early 2000s pop-punk energy with a fresh, introspective twist.

His debut track, “Say Nothing,” became a defining moment, proving to himself that he could bring his ideas to life on his own. Now, with more music in the works and live shows on the horizon, DIMND is set to carve out its place in the scene. We caught up with Marc to talk about his influences, the weight of going solo, and what’s next for this emerging project. This is a paid collaboration with 'DIMND'

TRACK REVIEW

From the first note, the unmistakable Australian accent in the vocals gives this track a raw, authentic charm. The pop-punk energy is undeniable, carried by anthemic melodies and beautifully layered harmonies that elevate the chorus.

What really stands out is the crunchy, driving guitar tone, adding grit and urgency to the mix. As the song builds, there’s a natural anticipation for a lead guitar solo, a moment that feels just within reach. It’s the kind of track that hooks you in and makes you want to hear more.

I’d definitely keep an eye on this artist—there’s something special brewing here.

DIMND is your first solo project after years of playing in bands, how does it feel to be completely in control of the creative process, and do you ever miss the collaboration?

In my mind, it's the best option ever! The only disagreements I have come from myself, which happen more often than I'd like. But to have total control is the highest form of freedom, creativity is endless and it allows me to dip so deep into what's making me tick. I do really miss collaborating though, there's nothing better sometimes than locking in with someone who's on the same wavelength, who knows what the future holds!

Your music brings back that early 2000s energy. If your songs were the soundtrack to a classic teen movie, which film would they fit into?

The first movie that comes to mind is American Pie, so many of my idol bands growing up were showcased in that series. But if I could be played in something like Almost Famous... oh man.

“Say Nothing” was the first song you fully completed on your own. Looking back, do you feel like that moment proved something to yourself?

100%. It basically granted me the belief that I can actually do this on my own, so many ideas have stemmed into songs starting from that moment when I finished Say Nothing.

Writing and recording everything yourself is a huge task. If you could bring in any musician, past or present, to add something to your next track, who would it be and why?

Get me in a room with Tom Delonge (blink-182). He was and probably still is my number 1 idol, his composition work especially with Angels and Airwaves as well is something I always revert back to. Highly emotional and likes to zone in around the journey from start to finish.

Your sound taps into pop-punk and indie-rock nostalgia - what’s a deep-cut album from that era that shaped you but doesn’t get enough credit?

Deja Entendu by Brand New. Phenom.

Playing live as DIMND is still on the horizon, but when you close your eyes and picture that first gig, what does it look like? How do you want people to feel when they walk away from it?

It's with a band, a small intimate venue, loud. I'd love for people to have experienced something that's full of energy but feeling a little lighter when they walk out, like euphoria vibes.

If you had to describe your music to someone who has never experienced guitar-driven rock before, what would you say?

Music that makes you feel, reminisce and gives you a sense of uplifting melancholy. Meaningful lyrics with energy and full of melodies. Strap in

Your project was born out of having the time and space to create - do you think you would have arrived here without that forced reset?

Honestly, I credit that time period so much, but it's been stirring inside me for so long now, it would've eventually made its way out whether it was now or in 10years.

If you could send a message to the version of yourself who was unsure whether you could do this, what would you say?

Just wake up dude. Life's too short. It's actually beyond rewarding in more ways than you can think and there's no time for regrets.

What’s the wildest or most unexpected reaction you’d love for someone to have after hearing a DIMND song for the first time?

'This is the next best thing since Vegemite' ;)
