VALIANT STRIDE JUST RELEASED AN EP / NEW TRACK AND WE'RE PRETTY NOSEY OVER HERE AT WIZARD WATER, WE THOUGHT WE'D DIVE RIGHT IN.
SINGLE NAME IS - WHAT WE HAVE LISTEN HERE
Sydney based rock band, Valiant Stride, was founded in late 2022 by lead guitarist Frank Tesoriero. Drawing inspiration from ‘70s/'80s rock, the band's sound is something that could be described as both nostalgic and fresh. This is a paid collaboration with Valiant Stride.
TRACK REVIEW
"Jeannie" immediately transports me to the Pink Floyd era with its opening setting. The track features beautiful, mystical lyrics paired with classic songwriting. The chorus is a standout, evoking a mix between a Fleetwood Mac production and the essence of Led Zeppelin.
The storytelling and vivid imagery within the lyrics are exceptional. The line "Come back to reality, you'll have your clarity" just before the chorus is particularly captivating.
The bridge is perhaps my favorite part of the track, offering a unique twist with its beautiful melodic harmonies. Overall, "Jeannie" is a fantastic track that pays homage to rock legends while maintaining a fresh sound.
Your sound draws heavily from ‘70s/'80s rock. Which artists or bands from that era have influenced your music the most?
Whether intentional or not, I think the two bands that seem to have been the biggest influence on our sound are Pink Floyd and Led Zeppelin.
What was the recording process like for your upcoming single "Hammer to the Wall"? Can you share any interesting stories from the studio?
Well the most interesting thing about the song is that it's actually based on a real event. To cut a long story short, there were two men who were next door neighbours to each other, arguing over one's freshly built wall that was crossing too far over into the other's property. Next thing you know, one of the men grabs a hammer and starts smashing the wall down. Perfect idea for a song.
Can you describe the creative process behind your songwriting? How do you usually start a new song?
The formula has been fairly simple so far. A chord progression is usually created on the guitar, and eventually everyone builds around that. The end result is always different to the original interpretation, which is a great thing.
What can fans expect from your upcoming show at the Bridge Hotel Rozelle on August 4th?
It's going to be a fun night as always. We will be performing a song from the upcoming album which we haven't played before. It's still a secret.
What themes or messages do you hope to convey through your music, particularly with your new single "Hammer to the Wall"?
Don't go in your neighbour's driveway or you will pay the price.
The production quality of "Jeannie" is impressive. What was the recording process like for this track, and did you encounter any unique challenges or memorable moments while working on it?
The recording process, much like the song itself, felt like a long journey. It was great to see it come to life. Surprisingly, this song has been one of the least challenging so far.
What are your future plans for Valiant Stride? Are there any upcoming projects or goals you’re particularly excited about?
The full album "Righteous Street" will be released by the end of the year. Date to be confirmed, so stay tuned!
